Sacred Relics of Lord Buddha to Be Displayed Across Three Arunachal Pradesh Monasteries

The Ministry of Culture, in association with the Arunachal Pradesh Government, is set to organise a special public exposition of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha across three prominent Buddhist destinations in the state. The programme will begin tomorrow and continue until November 21, offering devotees and visitors an opportunity to witness and pay their respects to the holy remains of Shakyamuni Buddha.
The exhibition will be held at three major Buddhist centres — Tawang, Bomdila and Namsai. Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will attend the inaugural event at Gaden Namgyal Lhatse, popularly known as Tawang Monastery, tomorrow.
The sacred Piprahwa relics, currently preserved at the National Museum in New Delhi, will be transported to Arunachal Pradesh tonight. Special arrangements involving Indian Air Force aircraft and helicopters have been made to ensure their secure and respectful transportation.
According to the programme schedule, devotees will be able to have darshan of the relics at Tawang Monastery from November 1 to 7. The exposition will then move to TGL Monastery (Lower Gompa) in Bomdila, where it will remain open from November 8 to 13.

The final phase will take place at the Golden Pagoda in Namsai from November 14 to 20. After the completion of the exposition, the sacred relics will be transported back to the National Museum in New Delhi on November 21.
The Ministry of Culture stated that the initiative aims to promote India’s rich Buddhist heritage while bringing together spiritual traditions, cultural activities and public participation. Members of the Buddhist Sangha, state government representatives, religious institutions and devotees are expected to take part in the programme.
