Rourkela Police Bust Major Illegal Arms Racket, Nab Prime Accused from Bihar

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against illegal arms smuggling, Rourkela police have arrested the prime accused in a high-profile firearms racket. The accused, identified as Rajesh Sahu from Bihar, was apprehended by Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani during a targeted operation.
During the arrest, police recovered a cache of weapons from Sahu’s possession, including 10 pistols, 7 magazines, and 6 live bullets, highlighting the gravity of the arms trade he was allegedly involved in.
Police officials confirmed that an extensive investigation is now underway to trace the wider network and apprehend other individuals associated with the racket.
Since October last year, Rourkela police have been actively cracking down on illegal arms operations. So far, 13 cases have been registered across various police station limits, leading to the arrest of 52 people and the seizure of 27 illegal firearms.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling these criminal networks and ensuring public safety.
