Rituals resume at Lingaraj Temple

Bhubaneswar: Normal rituals have resumed in the Lingaraj Temple in the capital city of Odisha, Bhubaneswar. Devotees are now being allowed to darshan in queues following the Mangala Alati ritual on Thursday. The information was shared by Brahmin Nijog Secretary Biranchi Narayan Pati.
After about two days normalcy returned to Lord Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar. The rituals had been stopped since Tuesday night. Even the Makar Sankranti rituals could not be performed yesterday. However, after a gap of two days, temple rituals have returned to normalcy today.
The disruption was caused by a dispute between the Badu Nijog and the Brahmin Nijog over the Kheera Autaa ritual.
Following the incident last year, the Badu Nijog had approached the Orissa High Court. The court had directed the Endowment Department to resolve the dispute. However, the issue remains unresolved to date.
Frequent interruptions in rituals and repeated fasting of Lord Lingaraj have led to growing resentment and dissatisfaction among devotees.
