Rising Plane Crash Incidents Worldwide; Seven Killed in North Carolina Tragedy

Cases of plane crashes have been increasing worldwide over the past two years, with several major incidents reported across different countries. While such accidents have occurred globally, the United States has witnessed frequent plane crash incidents in recent times. Another such tragedy was reported on Thursday in the state of North Carolina, USA.

Private Plane Crashes, Turns into Fireball

A small private aircraft, a Cessna C550, crashed on Thursday in Statesville, North Carolina. According to initial reports, the plane met with the accident shortly after takeoff. Moments after crashing, the aircraft burst into flames and turned into a massive fireball, sending thick smoke into the air.

Seven People Killed

The crash claimed the lives of seven people. Among the deceased were former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina Biffle, daughter Emma Biffle, and son Ryder Biffle. Three others also lost their lives — Craig Wadsworth, Dennis Dutton, and his son Jack Dutton.

Craig Wadsworth was a professional motorhome driver. Dennis Dutton was an international Airbus A330 captain with Delta Air Lines and a retired pilot from the U.S. Air Force Reserve. His son Jack Dutton had recently become an instrument-rated private pilot.

Investigation Underway

The exact cause of the crash is not yet known. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Reports suggest that light rain and poor visibility were present at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the accident.
