“Registered Post is NOT being discontinued,” India post confirms upgrade with Speed post

India post has confirmed that the Registered Post services is not going away, instead it has been upgraded by merging with Speed post.

In an official statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), India Post wrote, “Fact Check: Registered Post is NOT being discontinued. India Post has upgraded the service by merging it with Speed Post.”

The post came in response to all the false rumours circulating on social media that claimed that Registered post was being phased out.

India Post further continued that the main features of Registered Post remain the same even after the upgrade. These features include Person-specific delivery, Delivery receipt and Real time tracking Legal validity & acknowledgments.

The main difference now is that customer will also get faster delivery without losing any of the trust and safety they had before. “We’re modernizing, not erasing.” The post added.

According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) press release statement, customers will continue to have all the benefits of Registered Speed Post while gaining access to some new features which include,

• • End-to-end online tracking
  • Real-time delivery updates
  • OTP-based secure delivery
  • Cash on Delivery (COD) services
  • Credit facility
  • Applicable volume-based discount
  • National Account Facility for the corporate customers
