Red Warning for Jagatsinghpur; Schools Shut in Puri Amid Heavy Rainfall

Puri: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Warning for Jagatsinghpur, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall amid an active weather system over the northwest Bay of Bengal. Kendrapara and Puri are also witnessing heavy downpours, raising concerns over waterlogging and disruptions to normal life.

Puri has reportedly recorded 168 mm of rainfall, prompting the district administration to declare a holiday for all schools from kindergarten to Class XII as a precautionary measure. The decision aims to ensure the safety of students amid the adverse weather conditions.

With the low-pressure system likely to influence rainfall across coastal Odisha, residents have been advised to remain cautious and follow official weather updates. Authorities are monitoring the situation and urging people to avoid waterlogged areas and take necessary precautions.
