Rain in Odisha to reduce from today

Bhubaneswar: The intensity of rainfall in Bhubaneswar will decrease from today. Low to moderate rainfall can be expected in the state till September 11.
The IMD has issued yellow warning to the entire state of Odisha. Along with light to moderate rain, thunderstorm and lightning can be expected in the state for which the weathermen issued the yellow warnings.
The windspeed during this time is expected to remain between 30 to 40 kmph. Similarly, 20 districts have been issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm.
As the low pressure crossed Odisha and is advancing towards Madhya Pradesh via Northern Chhattisgarh, the intensity of the rains have decreased.
Due to these rains, the water level had breached the danger mark of several rivers posing a threat of flood. While many districts were waterlogged, the situation had not resulted in flood said the government.
Due to heavy rain in the upper catchment region, Mahanadi river, the river on which Hirakud Dam has swollen up. As the water level in Hirakud dam started to rise, twenty four more gates had to be opened to release the water.
In several parts like Balasore, Jajpur the people were stranded due to rainwater in the area.
Due to bad weather, the flight of Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi was diverted to Kolkata, due to torrential rains in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
According to reports, the flight Airbus AI 473 from Delhi was supposed to land in Bhubaneswar but had to be diverted to Kolkata due to heavy rain in Bhubaneswar.
