Quarrel over mosquito coil purchase turns deadly in Balasore

Balasore: A quarrel over mosquito coil purchase reportedly turned deadly in Balasore district of Odisha yesterday night leaving 3 persons critically injured. The incident took place at the Ghodapada Chhaka of Balasore under Balasore Town PS limits.

The critically injured victims have been identified as Maheshwar Pradhan, Pitambar Pradhan and Kuni Pradhan. They have been admitted to Balasore Headquarter hospital in a critical condition for treatment.

As per reports, an argument broke out between the shopkeeper and a customer at Maheshwar’s tea and beetle shop in Ghodapada Chhack over buying some mosquito coil. Maheshwar had an altercation over this. Later, a police complaint had also been lodged in this matter at the Parikhi police station.

However, yesterday night, about 20 youths trespassed Maheshwar’s house and allegedly attacked the family members with sharp weapons. In this attack, three members of Maheshwar’s family reportedly sustained critical injury.

The injured persons have been admitted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital while Police probe of the matter is underway.
