Puri Jagannath Temple Servitor Critically Injured in Mahaprasad Mishap

Bhubaneswar: A Bojhia sevayat of Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri sustained severe burn injuries on Wednesday after hot dal accidentally spilled on him while he was carrying Mahaprasad to Anand Bazar.
The injured servitor, identified as Anant Jena of Jhadipada, was transporting the Mahaprasad atop his head when the incident occurred. He suffered burns from head to waist, with serious injuries to his face.

Jena was immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri, where his condition remains critical. The mishap is suspected to have been caused by a slip, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.
The incident has brought attention to the occupational hazards faced by temple servitors, especially those engaged in the physically demanding task of carrying Mahaprasad within the temple premises.
