Public, Govt officials’ efforts help restore normalcy post Fani

Surjit Kumar Dhal, Bhubaneswar, May 21: The situation has improved vastly through timely intervention of different Departments, cooperation of the public and the dedicated endeavour of the people associated with relief and restoration work, the State government claimed on Tuesday.
An official release here said that normalcy has been restored in the affected regions and solace has been provided with health services, and improvement in power and drinking water supply.
The distribution of relief materials has met essential requirements of the affected people, it said adding in worst hit Puri district efforts to restore power supply is on in fast pace.
Relief distribution in Puri district 94.7per cent and in Khurda 98.9 per cent beneficiaries have received the cash component.
The percentage of such beneficiaries in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Ranapur Block area of Nayagarh dist and BMC have been 95pc, 99.31pc, 97.9pc, 80.05pc and 87.4pc respectively, it said.
The release said 96.7 pc , 99pc, 97.34pc, 98.6pc, 98.4pc, 79.16pc and 81.9pc beneficiaries in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Ranapur Block area of Nayagarh and BMC respectively have been provided with rice while 93.8pc beneficiaries in Puri district have been given polythene or cash in lieu of.
The percentage of such beneficiaries has been 87.4pc, 85.5pc and 71.8pc in BMC, Khurda and Ranapur, the release added.
Similarly, 90pc of beneficiaries have been disbursed additional monthly pension in the affected districts and the percentage of such beneficiaries in Khurda, BMC, Cuttack, Puri, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur has come to 94pc, 64.3pc, 99pc, 84.2pc, 97.5pc and 98pc respectively.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has taken utmost care for health services and awareness campaign in the affected areas, it said addng 46 medical relief centres are functioning in Puri with 20 doctors and 200 multipurpose health workers to provide immediate health services in the affected Grampanchayats of Puri and Khurda districts.
More than 145699 open water sources have been disinfected so far and more than 21,112 sanitation and cleanliness drives have been undertaken by the Gram Kalyan Samitis and other NGOs.
More than 28, 55,000 ORS packets and 29.04 lakh Hologen tablets have been distributed among the cyclone affected people.
There has been substantial progress in telecommunication sector has been made possible while 89 per cent mobile towers in Khurda district have become operational.
In Puri and Cuttack districts 65pc and 97pc of towers are functioning respectively. The mobile tower operation has been 90pc, 61pc and 97pc in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack Towns respectively.
As many as 21 Cell on Wheel (CoW) have been active in Puri town along with 25 BTS. These CoWs include BSNL, Airtel, Jio and Vodafone-Idea.
The BSNL fixed landline Exchange in Khurda and Cuttack have been cent percent operational while in Puri 40 exchanges out of 41 are working.
The release said as on date, the percentage of bank branch operation in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam and Kendrapara are 94.59, 98.63, 99.49, 97.56, 99.77 and 100 respectively.
While ATMs functioning in Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganajam and Kendrapara have been 40pc, 79.22pc, 82.40pc, 83.07pc, 100pc & 86.55pc respectively.
Remarkable achievement has been made in Cuttack, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara district, so far as power restoration is concerned.
All the consumers in Cuttack CDD-I division have been supplied with power connection while in CDD-II, 67270 out of 69031 consumers have been connected.
In Cuttack CED, 71200 urban and rural consumers out of 95599 have been given connection. Till date, 94pc of electricity consumers in Cuttack district have got electricity while connectivity to all the consumers have been completed in Bhubaneswar BCDD-I Division, in BCDD-II Division, all rural and urban consumers have been restored.
As many as 1,08,550 consumers of rural and urban areas out of 109984 in BED Division have been supplied with power and power Supply in Khurda district has been reached upto 94pc till date.
In Puri, all out effort is being made to restore electricity as early as possible, the release clamed adding, more than 28743 consumers have been supplied with electricity in Puri district till now while 13 feeders out of 56 and 7 feeders out of 28 in PED and NED Division respectively have been operational.
The release said as many as 5029 partly uprooted trees have already been replanted in and around Bhubaneswar. The replantation operation is still continuing as per information available with Forest & Environment Department.
