President Murmu’s Visit to Rairangpur Marks Major Development Push for Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar/Rairangpur: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday extended a warm welcome to President Droupadi Murmu during her visit to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, describing the occasion as a moment of pride and honour for the state. Rairangpur holds special significance as it is both the birthplace and the site of President Murmu’s early professional journey.
Addressing a gathering, Majhi expressed gratitude for the President’s continued guidance, recalling her earlier address at the Odisha Legislative Assembly where she spoke about responsibilities and public service. He said her presence in Mayurbhanj on a day marked by the launch of multiple development initiatives added historic importance to the visit.

Several key projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid during the programme, reflecting coordinated efforts between the Centre and the State to accelerate development in the district. Among the major initiatives are an Ayush Hospital, an Ayurvedic College, and an Information Technology campus. These institutions are expected to strengthen healthcare, expand educational opportunities, and improve infrastructure in the region.
The Chief Minister noted that the projects would particularly benefit youth, farmers, tribal communities, and women, while also generating employment, improving connectivity, and encouraging local commerce. He said Mayurbhanj’s growth has gained renewed momentum since President Murmu, “a daughter of the soil,” assumed the nation’s highest constitutional office.
Highlighting the broader vision, Majhi said the initiatives align with the government’s Purvodaya focus on the development of eastern India.
President Murmu, in her address, underlined the importance of tribal welfare and inclusive growth. She spoke about measures such as ensuring Minimum Support Price (MSP) for minor forest produce and providing low-interest loans to Scheduled Tribe women, aimed at strengthening livelihoods and economic independence in tribal regions.
The visit was marked by enthusiastic public participation and was seen as a significant step toward advancing sustainable and inclusive development in Mayurbhanj.
