President Murmu’s Odisha Visit: Jajpur Schools Closed Feb 3

Jajpur: All schools in Jajpur town and surrounding municipal areas will remain closed on February 3, as President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit the historic Biraja Temple and offer prayers, according to an official notification from the District Education Officer (DEO).
The holiday comes on the directive of the District Collector and was formally announced by the Block Education Officer (BEO). The closure affects educational institutions across the municipal limits and nearby towns.

President Murmu is expected to arrive in Bhubaneswar today (February 2) and will stay overnight before proceeding to Jajpur on Thursday. During her visit, she will offer prayers at the Maa Biraja Temple and perform pindadaan (ritual offerings for ancestors). After spending approximately 90 minutes at the temple, the President is scheduled to travel to Balasore, where she will preside over the 12th convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University and engage with graduating students.
Later on Thursday evening, President Murmu will arrive in Puri and stay overnight. February 4 will begin with a ceremonial welcome at the Singhadwara of Shree Jagannath Temple by Gajapati Maharaja and senior officials. She will then offer prayers to Lord Jagannath before performing Pinda Daan at Swetaganga.
On the same day, the President is expected to proceed to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, where she will address a public gathering and inaugurate a series of development projects. The following day, she will visit Rairangpur’s Jagannath Temple and subsequently travel to the Similipal Tiger Reserve via Jashipur. There, President Murmu is scheduled to hold interactions with tribal women and youth from the Similipal region, with a focus on community engagement and inclusive development.
In preparation for the presidential itinerary, security has been significantly tightened in Bhubaneswar, with traffic restrictions implemented along the President’s planned routes.
