President Murmu Concludes Two-Day Odisha Visit, Departs for Lucknow

Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu on Friday wrapped up her two-day visit to Odisha and departed for Lucknow in the morning. She was accorded a warm farewell at the Biju Patnaik International Airport by Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Pravati Parida and Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Speaker Surama Padhee, and other dignitaries.

According to reports, the President left Raj Bhavan under tight security arrangements made by the Commissionerate Police. A total of 23 platoons of forces were deployed along the route from Raj Bhavan to the airport, while traffic restrictions were enforced between 9 am and 9:30 am to facilitate her movement.

During her visit, President Murmu delivered a historic address to the Winter Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday, becoming the first President of India to address the House. Her speech, rich with emotion, traced her journey from a remote tribal village to the nation’s highest constitutional office and deeply resonated with the members present.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi later expressed his gratitude on X, describing the President’s address as an “unforgettable milestone” in the 75-year history of the Assembly. He said her guidance had inspired the state government and citizens in their mission to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036. He further thanked the “daughter of the soil” for her meaningful and impactful visit.
