Police Visit Narla MLA’s Bhubaneswar Residence to Serve Notice in Threat Case

Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday visited the official residence of Narla MLA Manorama Mohanty in the city in connection with a case registered against her husband, Durga Prasad Mohanty.
According to reports, Narla Tehsildar Bibhu Prasad Singh has filed a complaint alleging that Durga Prasad Mohanty, who serves as the chairman of Narla Block, issued death threats to him.
Based on the written complaint, a case was registered at Narla Police Station on March 15, following which an investigation was initiated.
As part of the probe, a police team reached the MLA’s Bhubaneswar residence to serve a notice related to the case. However, no official response has yet been received from Manorama Mohanty or her husband regarding the allegations.
Kalahandi Superintendent of Police clarified that the visit was only to serve a notice and not for any arrest or raid. The officer added that the police team from Kalahandi, with assistance from local police in Bhubaneswar, carried out the procedure as part of the investigation.
The SP further stated that since it was not an arrest or raid, there was no requirement to inform the Assembly Speaker about the visit.
