Police post to be set up at Anand Bazar

Puri: A police post will be set up at the Anand Bazaar in the premises of Srimandira, the famous Lord Jagannath temple in Puri of Odisha. This was informed by Arvind Padhi, Chief Administrator of the temple.

On security issues of the temple and after visiting and inspecting inside Srimandira today the Chief Administrator said that a police post will be opened inside the Anand Bazaar of the temple. The police will keep a close watch on various places inside the temple.

In this regard, we have gone inside the temple with the Puri SP and inspected it, he said.

Besides, more forces will be deployed in various main temples inside the temple, informed the Chief Administrator and Puri SP Pinak Mishra today.

It is to be noted that today only a man from Uttar Pradesh was scaling the Srimandira wall when the security personnel nabbed him. Earlier also a few security breaches have been witnessed in Srimandira. A few days ago a youth tried to click photos inside the temple with a hidden camera secretly fixed to his spectacle. Today’s announcement by the Chief Administrator comes after these security breaches.

In another development Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan today said that the ‘Dhadi Darshan’ (queued visit to the temple to have a glimpse of the deities) will be started from September 15 at the temple.

The minister further said that after the formation of the managing committee, in the first meeting the Hundi (Donation Box) shifting will be taken up and later the dhadi darshan will be started.

The temple administration is ready, the dhadi darshan will start soon. The formation of the committee will be completed between 3 to 4 Sept. After this, the meeting will be held. The dhadi darshan will start from September 15. Devotees will be able to have darshan of the deities smoothly. The crowd can be controlled. It will be easy for the visitors, he added.
