Police Observer Inspects SST Operations in Purba Bardhaman Ahead of Assembly Polls

Purba Bardhaman: In a move to strengthen election monitoring, Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, conducted an inspection of the Static Surveillance Team (SST) at Bulbulitala under Kalna Police Station in the 268–Purbasthali Dakshin Assembly Constituency.
Dr. Naik, serving as Police Observer for the ongoing West Bengal Legislative Assembly Elections 2026, reviewed the functioning and preparedness of the SST deployed at the naka checking point. He assessed arrangements related to vehicle checking, verification procedures, and enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

During the visit, he stressed the importance of maintaining strict vigilance to curb the movement of unaccounted cash, liquor, or any inducements that could influence voters. Interacting with personnel on duty, Dr. Naik directed them to strictly follow Election Commission of India guidelines, maintain professional and courteous conduct, and ensure proper documentation along with real-time reporting of any seizures.
He also emphasized effective coordination with Flying Squads and other enforcement teams. The Police Observer further inspected infrastructure at the naka point, including surveillance equipment, lighting arrangements, and deployment patterns, instructing officials to address all logistical requirements for uninterrupted operations.
The inspection is part of ongoing monitoring efforts aimed at ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in the constituency.
