PM Modi Lays Foundation for Yoga and Naturopathy Institute in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the Central Research Institute in Yoga and Naturopathy at Jatani in Khordha through video conferencing today. Alongside this initiative, he inaugurated the Central Drugs Testing Laboratory in Gothapatna, Bhubaneswar, and a Critical Care Block in Bargarh district.

The establishment of the Central Research Institute was initially announced in 2014 by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN), an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH. The plan included a facility focused on chronic diseases, featuring a 100-bed hospital, a modern yoga hall, and a laboratory.

However, progress on the project faced significant delays as CCRYN struggled to secure the necessary 20-acre plot for construction due to a lack of support from the local administration. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi had previously appealed to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, urging him to direct the Khurda district administration to facilitate the land acquisition for the proposed institute.

With today’s foundation laying, there is renewed hope for the development of this vital healthcare facility, which aims to enhance the scope of yoga and naturopathy in the region.
