PM Modi Highlights Nalanda’s Role in Spreading Indian Knowledge Across Asia

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted the contribution of India’s ancient centres of learning, particularly Nalanda, in promoting intellectual and cultural exchanges between India and other Asian countries.
In a message delivered at the inaugural session of the International Conference on Bharat’s Cultural Connections Across the Globe, the Prime Minister said India’s civilisational heritage had evolved through centuries of interaction, cultural exchange and the sharing of knowledge.
He noted that monks, scholars, traders and travellers played a significant role in taking Indian philosophies, ideas and traditions to different parts of the world through land and sea routes. The Prime Minister’s message was read out by Culture Secretary Vivek Aggarwal.

Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also stressed that a civilisation’s influence extends far beyond its geographical boundaries. He observed that the exchange of ideas, artistic traditions and knowledge has enabled cultures to connect across borders.
Shekhawat said the conference was not limited to exploring historical connections but also aimed to examine how the wisdom and experiences of the past could contribute to shaping the future.
The three-day international conference is being organised at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi and will continue until October 16.
