Pipili By-Poll Postponed As Poll Candidate Ajit Mangaraj Passed Away

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): The Pipili by-election, scheduled to be held on April 17, has been postponed following the death of Congress candidate for the by-election Ajit Mangaraj due to Covid-19 today afternoon. Informed Sushil Lohani, Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha.

Lohani said fresh dates for the by-poll to Pipili Assembly seat will be informed later.

10 candidates were in the by-poll battle for the Pipili Assembly constituency including Rudra Pratap Maharathy of BJD and Ashrit Pattnayak of BJP.

Noteworthy, on October 4 last year, the sitting Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy passed away necessitating a by-poll to the Assembly seat.
