Pattamundai self-immolation case: Kendrapara SP transfers ASI

Kendrapara: The Rural police station Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Shailendra Narayana Palei was transferred over the Pattamundai girl’s self-immolation case. The Kendrapara SP transferred the ASI to the District Police Headquarters in Kendrapara.

According to information, the SP of Kendrapara Siddharth Kataria, transferred the concerned ASI, citing unbiased investigation into the matter of Pattmundai girl’s self-immolation. He informed that he would personally probe the case and even look into allegations of police inaction. He also assured stricter action against persons responsible for the girl’s death.

On Wednesday, the girl who died by burning herself using kerosene after facing repeated threatens by her ex-boyfriend. He reportedly, circulated her obscene photos on the social media and blackmailed her after she broke up with him.

The girl then informed her family who tried to lodge a complaint against the youth. But instead of lodging the FIR, the ASI allegedly asked her to block the boy from all social media sites. This went on for a long time of 7-8 months. Frustrated with the blackmails of the boy, the girl took the stern decision of self-immolating when she was alone at her home.

After the death of the girl, her father has alleged the police officials’ careless attitude. He blamed the officials for the death of his daughter and said, “The ASI did not accept our complaint and instead asked my daughter to block the boy. The official is responsible for the death of my daughter.”

The deceased has been sent for post-mortem. The report will reveal the reason behind her death. The post-mortem is scheduled to happen today at the Kendrapara medical. It will then become clear whether she was killed by someone else or she self-immolated herself.

On the other hand, police is investigating the case. The investigators are checking her call history.
