Padmashri Binod Pasayat passes away

Sambalpur: Padma Shri Binod Pasayat passed away on Wednesday while under treatment at the Head Quarter hospital in Sambalpur of Odisha. He had been conferred with Padma Shri in 2024. Two days back he had fell sick and was under treatment at his house. However, as today his health condition deteriorated he was rushed to the District Headquarter hospital in Sambalpur but after some time passed away while under treatment.

Binod Pasayat was a famous lyricist. He has written a few of the most famous and all time hit Sambalpuri songs including ‘Hai Krushna Hai Krushna Boli Jau Mor Jibana,’, ‘E Nani Sulochana’, ‘Rathar Chaka Chale Ghidighidi,” “Bajuche Madala Ae Baula Kurei Phula. He also wrote playback songs for Odia films like “Samarpan,” and “Para Stri”.

Besides songs, Binod Pasayat was the writer of many famous Sambalpuri dramas. Some of his notable works include the Sambalpuri dramas “Ukhi,” “Mui Nai Mare,” “Lita,” “Chinha,” and “Bharna”.
