P.V. Sindhu participates in Bonalu Festival with traditional rituals

Hyderabad: India’s star badminton player P.V. Sindhu recently took part in the Bonalu festivities, making prayers at the iconic Lal Darwaza Temple of the Old City in Hyderabad. During one of the traditional customs, Sindhu walked with a splendidly adorned golden vessel, ‘bonam’, on her head as an offering to Goddess Simhavahini Mahankali. This act is a reflection of her faith and affinity towards her culture.
In a surprise turn of events, Sindhu was defeated by Unnati Hooda at the China Open, which was a breakout moment for the younger player. Even with this loss, Sindhu’s legacy and impact on Indian badminton continue to inspire the next generation of players. With her impressive career history of a World Championship bronze and an Olympic silver medal, Sindhu is still a force to be considered in the sport.
