Over 2 Lakhs worth jewellery, 60 thousand in cash stolen from Udala house

Udala: At least two lakh rupees worth of gold jewellery and 60,000 rupees in cash were stolen from the house of a local in Athangaon Ward No. 10 under Udala police station limits in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

As per reports, the incident took place late Thursday night at the house of local businessman Nilakantha Behera when the whole family went to Brahmapur to attend the niece’s engagement ceremony.

In the meantime, some miscreants had somehow entered their house premises in their absence.

The family returned in the morning to find the house completely ransacked and jewellery and cash missing.

The miscreants allegedly force opened the Almarah through heavy force and looted the entire house.

Behera and his family had kept a major amount of jewellery that was to be given to their niece on her upcoming wedding.

Along with it, a cash of around sixty thousand rupees was also stolen.

The neighbours alerted the family on seeing the broken fence and the main door left open in the morning.

Following this, Behera and his family rushed back home and called for the police.

On receiving information, police along with a scientific team and a dog squad arrived at the spot and started the investigation.

Surprisingly, the miscreants left behind their used garments along with two iron rods used in the robbery.

The district police are trying to nab the criminals and recover the lost items.
