Over 1.5 Quintals of Ganja Seized in Sonepur; Five Arrested in Twin Raids

Sonepur: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Sonepur police seized over 1.5 quintals of ganja and arrested five persons, including two women, in separate raids at Baghalpur and Budharaja Chowk on Thursday.
According to reports, a truck was intercepted at Baghalpur under Biramaharajpur police station limits, while an Alto car was stopped at Budharaja Chowk during the operations.
In the first raid, police apprehended occupants of a car, including two women and the driver, and recovered 30 packets of ganja concealed in a suitcase inside the vehicle.
In a separate operation, officials intercepted a Tata Ace vehicle and discovered a specially designed concealed compartment beneath its deck, used for smuggling. During the search, 130 packets of ganja were recovered, leading to the arrest of two more persons involved in the illegal transport.
Altogether, police seized over 1.5 quintals of ganja and two vehicles during the twin operations.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source and destination of the contraband and to identify other members of the smuggling network.
