Orissa High Court Issues Notice in Subarnapur Home Guard Recruitment Case

The Orissa High Court issued notices to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Subarnapur and other officials in connection with alleged irregularities in the Home Guard recruitment process.

Petitioners challenged the validity of the recruitment, alleging procedural lapses and favouritism. The case pointed out that candidates from other police station areas were selected for Subarnapur, sparking objections. A notification had earlier announced the selection of 92 candidates across the district.

The High Court stated that the legality of the appointments would depend on the outcome of the case. It emphasised that recruitment must follow transparent procedures and adhere to established norms.

The matter will come up for further hearing on February 23. Until then, the recruitment process remains under judicial scrutiny.

The case has drawn attention to the need for accountability in recruitment drives. Allegations of irregularities have raised questions about fairness and transparency in government appointments.
