Operation Jeevan Rakshya: Rs 7.39 Lakh Fine Collected in Central Range Road Drive

Cuttack: As part of Operation Jeevan Rakshya, the Central Range Police, Cuttack, conducted an extensive road safety enforcement drive across seven districts on January 18, checking 1,372 vehicles and collecting fines amounting to Rs 7.39 lakh for various traffic violations.
According to official data, the drive covered Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khordha and Nayagarh districts. Nayagarh recorded the highest number of vehicles checked at 413, followed by Puri with 278 and Khordha with 210. The highest fine amount of Rs 2.63 lakh was collected in Puri district, while Khordha accounted for Rs 1.95 lakh.

During the single-day operation, 28 heavy transport vehicles were also inspected, primarily in Jajpur district. No suspicious activities were reported during the checks.
Meanwhile, cumulative data from January 7 to January 18 revealed the scale of the enforcement campaign. A total of 15,272 vehicles were checked across the seven districts, leading to the collection of Rs 65.46 lakh in fines. Nayagarh topped the list with 5,188 vehicles checked, followed by Puri with 3,675 and Jajpur with 2,453 vehicles.
During the period, police also inspected 34 buses and 90 heavy transport vehicles as part of efforts to ensure compliance with road safety norms.
Police officials said Operation Jeevan Rakshya aims to improve road discipline, reduce accidents and promote safer roads. Citizens have been urged to strictly follow traffic rules and regulations to ensure their own safety and that of others.
