Operation Jeevan Rakshya: ₹8.09 Lakh Fine Collected in Central Range Road Safety Drive

Cuttack: As part of Operation Jeevan Rakshya, the Central Range Police intensified road safety enforcement across seven districts on January 21, 2026, checking 1,426 vehicles and imposing fines amounting to ₹8.09 lakh for various traffic violations.

According to official data, the special drive covered Puri, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Khordha and Nayagarh districts. Puri district recorded the highest fine collection at ₹2.70 lakh from 244 vehicles checked, followed by Khordha with ₹2.50 lakh from 146 vehicles. Nayagarh saw the maximum number of vehicles checked at 399, while Jajpur recorded checks on 26 heavy transport vehicles.

Meanwhile, cumulative figures from January 7 to January 21, 2026, highlight the scale of enforcement under the road safety campaign. During this period, the Central Range Police checked 20,006 vehicles, including 34 buses and 171 heavy transport vehicles, and imposed a total fine of ₹88.92 lakh.

District-wise data show Nayagarh leading in vehicle checks with 6,381 vehicles, followed by Puri (4,483) and Jajpur (3,169). In terms of fine collection over the 15-day period, Puri topped the list with ₹34.05 lakh, followed by Khordha (₹20.95 lakh) and Nayagarh (₹14.12 lakh).

Police officials said the ongoing drive aims to curb traffic violations, improve road discipline and reduce accidents across the Central Range. They urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules, wear helmets and seat belts, and avoid rash and negligent driving to ensure safer roads for all.
