One Killed, Six Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on NH-16 in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: One person was killed and six others sustained injuries in a series of accidents involving a bus, two trucks, and a pickup van in Bhadrak district late at night.

According to reports, the mishap occurred near Asura Square on National Highway-16. The chain collision began when a truck rammed into another truck from behind. The impacted truck then crashed into a stationary bus parked on the roadside.

Moments later, a pickup van loaded with liquor collided with the second truck from behind, worsening the situation. The driver of the pickup van got trapped under the vehicle for several hours and suffered fatal injuries, leading to his death.

Six passengers of the bus, identified as ‘Dadhibaman’, were seriously injured in the accident. The bus was en route from Balasore to Bhubaneswar at the time of the incident.

Among the injured, two critically wounded passengers were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, while four others are undergoing treatment at the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.

Fire services personnel were engaged in rescue operations and were working to recover the body of the deceased driver when the last reports came in.
