One Dead, Four Injured as Truck Hits Auto on NH-55 in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In a tragic road accident, one person lost his life while four others sustained injuries after a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw on National Highway-55 near Phulajharan under Jujumura police limits in Sambalpur district on Monday.

According to reports, the mishap occurred when the speeding truck rammed into the auto, causing it to overturn on the highway. The auto-rickshaw was carrying around 12 passengers from Birsinghgarh to the weekly market at Maneswar at the time of the accident.

The deceased has been identified as Beda Kharasel (55), a resident of Birsinghgarh. The identities of the injured persons are yet to be ascertained.

Locals rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and rescued the victims. The injured were shifted to the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Police have seized both the vehicles involved in the accident and initiated an investigation into the incident.
