Ollywood Actor and Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra’s Mother Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Kanak Mohapatra, mother of popular Ollywood actor and Digapahandi MLA Sidhant Mohapatra, passed away today in Bhubaneswar. She was a doctor by profession and was widely respected for her service.

Following the news of her demise, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and several other dignitaries visited Sidhant Mohapatra’s residence in the capital to offer condolences and pay their last respects.

Sidhant Mohapatra, 59, is a celebrated figure in the Odia film industry, known for his roles in films such as Sradhanjali, Pathara Khasuchi Bada Deulu, Bhai Hela Bhagari, Lakhe Siva Puji Paichhi Pua, Suna Panjuri, Kula Nandan, and Suhaga Sindura.

He began his political career with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Berhampur constituency in 2009 and 2014. In a significant political shift, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was elected to the Odisha Assembly from Digapahandi in Ganjam district in 2024.

The passing of Kanak Mohapatra marks a moment of personal loss for the veteran actor-politician, with condolences pouring in from across the state.
