Oil India Reviews Progress of Six CBG Plants in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A high-level delegation from Oil India, led by Chairman-cum-Managing Director Ranjit Rath, CGM Santanu Kumar Saikia, and OGEL Rajeev Kumar Tamuli, met Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Principal Secretary Usha Padhee at Kharabela Bhavan on Tuesday to review the progress of six upcoming Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants across Odisha.
The review meeting focused on project timelines, commissioning preparedness, and the integration of the new CBG plants with municipal waste systems to ensure steady feedstock supply. Officials emphasized the importance of transforming urban waste into green energy, aligning with Odisha’s broader goals of clean energy expansion and circular economy development.
Principal Secretary Padhee reiterated the State Government’s priority on building sustainable waste-to-energy ecosystems that reduce landfill pressure while creating local economic value. The Oil India delegation expressed confidence in meeting critical project milestones and reaffirmed the company’s support for the state’s green transition.
The discussion concluded with both sides agreeing to expedite coordination between Oil India and urban local bodies to ensure time-bound commissioning of all six CBG plants. Additional Secretary Binaya Kumar Dash was also present during the meeting.
