Odisha Vigilance Unearths Crores in Assets from Cuttack Senior Assistant

Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance on Friday conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of Kishore Kumar Sahani, Senior Assistant at City Hospital under the Office of CDM & PHO, Cuttack, and unearthed assets worth crores allegedly acquired through misappropriation of government funds.
During the searches, Sahani was found in possession of movable and immovable properties far exceeding his known sources of income. Preliminary findings revealed:
- Residential Properties: A triple-storeyed building at Jobra Nuasahi, Cuttack, and another building with a poultry farm spread over 2.5 acres at Choudwar.
- Land Holdings: 19 high-value plots in and around Cuttack.
- Valuables & Investments: ₹3.5 lakh cash, 135 grams of gold, bank and insurance deposits worth ₹44.46 lakh, along with other investments under scrutiny.
- Vehicles: One Hyundai Santro car and three two-wheelers.
According to Vigilance, Sahani allegedly misappropriated over ₹1.24 crore during his tenure at City Hospital by not depositing government money, making fraudulent withdrawals, transferring funds to personal accounts, and other irregular means.
A large team comprising 9 DSPs, 10 Inspectors, 7 ASIs, and other staff carried out the searches at five different locations across Cuttack district. The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently verifying the measurement and valuation of the assets.
Sahani, who joined government service in 1997 under the rehabilitation scheme, served in Mahanga and Banki before being posted to City Hospital in 2001. He continued there until 2016 and was later promoted to Senior Assistant at the CDM & PHO Office, Cuttack.
Further investigation is underway.
