Odisha to See Rise in Temperatures, Rain Likely in Several Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a gradual rise in maximum (day) temperatures by 2–4°C over the next two days across most districts of Odisha, with no significant change expected thereafter.

According to the latest Farmers’ Weather Bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at one or two places in districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, Angul and Dhenkanal. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining parts of the state over the next 24 hours.

The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds with speeds reaching 40–50 kmph at isolated places in districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.

The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be around 24°C.

The weather department has advised people, particularly farmers and those engaged in outdoor activities, to remain cautious of lightning and strong winds in the affected districts. Residents have been urged to take necessary precautions, including avoiding open fields during thunderstorms and securing loose objects that could be impacted by gusty winds.
