Odisha to Recruit 300 More Fire Fighters, Announces CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday announced that the state government will induct 300 additional fire fighters to further bolster Odisha’s disaster response system.
Addressing the passing-out ceremony of the 61st batch of fire fighter trainees, Majhi lauded the state’s Fire Services for earning international recognition and ranking among the top three in the country. He praised their exemplary role during this year’s Rath Yatra, calling their performance “of the highest standard.”
To strengthen preparedness, the government plans to introduce advanced training facilities, including the establishment of a fire-fighting simulator. The Chief Minister also revealed that a world-class scuba diving training centre will soon come up near Ramchandi in Konark to equip personnel with advanced rescue skills.
Highlighting collaborative efforts, Majhi said Odisha fire fighters will undergo joint training with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in September.
“These fire fighters, appointed just nine months ago under the present government, will serve as a shield for public safety during floods and cyclones,” the Chief Minister added.
