Odisha to experience coldwave condition yet again as night temperature likely to fall by 2-4°C from today

Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, Odisha will experience coldwave conditions yet again as the night temperature (minimum temperature) is very likely to fall by 2-4°C from today, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to Manorama Mohanty, the director of the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature (night temperature) is very likely to fall by 2-4°C during the next 4 days.

The interior and south regions of the state are most likely to feel the severe cold wave conditions during the next four days. But the night temperature will increase by 2-3 degrees thereafter.

Speaking about yesterday’s lowest temperature, Mohanty said that in plane area, Jharsuguda, reported the lowest temperature i.e 8.8 degree Celsius while in hill stations, Daringbadi, recorded the lowest night temperature of 8.5 degrees.

Bargarh saw the maximum temperature of 29.8 degrees in the last 24 hours, she added.

The Director of Bhubaneswar RMC also issued the following fog warnings:

Day 1: (Valid upto 8.30 AM of January 6):

  • Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Kandhamal, Koraput, Balangir, Boudh, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkanagiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Jajpur.

Day 2: (Valid from 8.30 AM of January 6 to 8.30 AM of January 7):

  • Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.

Day 3: (Valid from 8.30 AM of January 7 to 8.30 AM of January 8):

  • Shallow to moderate fog very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at isolated pockets in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri and Khurda.
