Odisha to Establish Planetariums Across Districts, Says Minister Patra

Bhubaneswar: Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Saturday announced a series of major initiatives to strengthen scientific education and awareness across Odisha, including the establishment of planetariums in every district.
Patra said construction work for several planetarium projects is already underway, with many nearing completion. These facilities will be inaugurated soon to promote scientific curiosity among students and the general public.
As part of efforts to nurture young talent, the minister informed that 30 budding scientists from Odisha are sent to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) every year, where they gain hands-on exposure to space research and technology.
He further revealed that the iconic Pathani Samanta Planetarium in Bhubaneswar will undergo a major renovation, with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi already sanctioning the required funds.
“Our ultimate goal is to create more scientists for the future. Odisha will make significant contributions to space science in the coming days,” Patra said.
