Odisha Shivers as Cold Wave Grips Angul, G. Udayagiri Coldest at 5.2°C

Odisha continues to reel under severe winter conditions as temperatures dipped further across the state in the past 24 hours.


Eleven locations recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

Rourkela registered the lowest temperature in the plains at 6.6°C, while G. Udayagiri in the hilly region recorded a chilling 5.2°C. On the other hand, Paralakhemundi reported the highest maximum temperature at 30.4°C.

In the capital city, Bhubaneswar, the mercury stood at 28.9°C (maximum) and 11.8°C (minimum). Cuttack recorded 26.4°C (maximum) and 10.4°C (minimum).

Parts of Angul district experienced cold wave conditions, intensifying the chill. Bhawanipatna witnessed shallow fog, reducing visibility to between 500 and 1,000 meters. Dry weather persisted across all districts.

Meteorologists noted that temperatures remained below normal in most places, further aggravating the cold. Authorities advised people to wear warm clothing and take precautions against the biting chill.
