Odisha Sanctions Additional Rs 100 Crore for Puri Development

The Odisha government has sanctioned an additional Rs 100 crore for development works in Puri to ensure the continuation of the Abadha Yojana and expedite pending projects. Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced the decision on Friday.

The funds will support ongoing works, including incomplete facilities at the Jagannath Ballav parking area near Srimandir. The government also plans to introduce a new scheme alongside Abadha Yojana to improve facilities for devotees and tourists and promote Jagannath culture.

Fresh EFC Proposal Planned

Harichandan said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed the allocation as funds for ongoing projects were running low. The government will prepare another Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) proposal to take up additional development projects in Puri.

The proposed initiatives will focus on improving facilities for devotees, streamlining darshan and making visits more convenient. Development works are scheduled to continue until 2029, with the government targeting completion of 90 per cent of the projects within the stipulated period.
