Odisha Plans Complete Textbook Revamp From Class 1 to 12

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s school education system is gearing up for a major transformation as the state government prepares to replace all textbooks from Class 1 to Class 12. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Assembly on Friday that work is underway to introduce a fully revised syllabus across all schools under the department.

Responding to a query from BJD MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, the minister said the government has formulated a plan to redesign and update textbooks covering the entire school spectrum. However, he clarified that the changes will not be implemented immediately.

Gond said the curriculum revision process is currently in progress and will be rolled out in phases once the new content is finalised. The initiative aims to modernise classroom learning, keep pace with academic reforms, and provide students with improved-quality study material.

Once introduced, the revised curriculum will bring comprehensive changes for students from primary to higher secondary levels, ensuring they receive updated and upgraded textbooks across the state.
