Odisha : Penalty For Not Wearing Mask Doubled

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): The government of Odisha will impose a fine of Rs 2,000 for not wearing masks in public places.

Persons who will violate the Covid-19 norms have to pay Rs 2,000 first two violations and Rs 5,000 for subsequent offenses. Earlier the fine amount was Rs 1,000 for the first two violations and Rs 5,000 for subsequent offenses.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, earlier in the day initiated the 14-day ‘Mask Abhiyaan’ and urged the citizens to wear masks properly for the said number of days in order to make it a habit.

“I urge the people not to go outside without wearing a mask. Wear mask properly by covering your mouth and nose. We can curb the spread of COVID-19 without any lockdown or loss of livelihood by following the safety protocols,” the CM said.
