Odisha Launches ‘Utkarsh ITI Yojana’ to Upgrade Five Government ITIs

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has introduced a new initiative, Utkarsh ITI Yojana, aimed at upgrading select Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to strengthen the state’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) ecosystem.
The Skill Development and Technical Education Department issued a notification outlining the scheme, under which five Government ITIs across the state will be modernised.
According to the notification, the scheme seeks to enhance the quality of vocational education by improving infrastructure and aligning training programmes with industry demands and emerging skill requirements.
The identified ITIs — located at Rourkela, Balangir, Ambaguda in Koraput district, Puri and Rajkanika in Kendrapara district — will be developed as Utkarsh ITIs.
These institutions will be equipped with upgraded physical infrastructure, modern training equipment, smart classrooms and digital learning systems. The department said the focus will also be on introducing industry-relevant trades to match current technological advancements and evolving labour market needs.
The scheme is designed to ensure equitable access to quality vocational education across regions, strengthen industry linkages and create a future-ready skilled workforce in the state, officials said.
