Odisha Home Dept Orders Swift Action to Fill Vacant Posts

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s Home Department has directed all major police, fire, prison, judicial, and allied institutions under its jurisdiction to immediately identify vacant posts and send requisitions to the respective recruiting agencies for early filling up of positions.
In an official communication issued on January 13, 2026, Special Secretary to Government-cum-Nodal Officer Subash Chandra Das instructed senior officials, including the Director General and Inspector General of Police, Director General of Fire Services, Director General of Prisons, and heads of judicial and prosecution institutions, to take urgent action in this regard.

The directive follows instructions from the Chief Secretary, who has emphasized the need for expeditious measures to address vacancies across departments. The issue is slated for review during the upcoming Meeting of All Secretaries scheduled for January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM.
The Home Department also expressed concern over delays in compliance, noting that despite earlier reminders issued on September 18, 2025, and December 3, 2025, several organisations have failed to furnish the necessary information for updating the Recruitment Web Portal.
Officials have now been asked to submit complete details of vacant posts in the prescribed format by the same day to enable timely portal updates and facilitate informed deliberations during the review meeting.
