Odisha Govt to Fill 22,896 Vacant Posts by August 31, 2025: Chief Secretary Issues Directive

Bhubaneswar: In a major administrative move, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja has directed all relevant departments to expedite the recruitment process for 22,896 vacant posts across 10 key government departments, with a deadline set for August 31, 2025.

Issuing a formal directive, Ahuja emphasized the immediate need to fill Group-C level positions, urging department heads to treat the matter as a top priority.

The School and Mass Education Department has the highest number of vacancies, with 8,358 posts lying unfilled. This is followed by the Panchayati Raj Department with 4,042 vacancies, and the Health and Family Welfare Department, which has 3,677 vacant positions.

According to official data, a total of 44,909 posts remain vacant across the ten departments, underscoring a significant gap in workforce capacity. The Chief Secretary’s directive aims to reduce this shortfall and ensure smoother functioning of public service delivery mechanisms.

The move is seen as a part of the state government’s broader push to enhance administrative efficiency and improve service delivery across sectors like education, health, and rural development.
