Odisha Govt to Appoint 4,623 Candidates at Mega Nijukti Mela in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a major employment boost, the Odisha government will appoint 4,623 candidates across 27 departments on Thursday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will personally attend the grand Nijukti Mela and distribute appointment letters at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, this will be the first job fair of 2026 and the 15th such recruitment drive organised under the BJP-led state government, highlighting its continued focus on job creation.

The School and Mass Education Department will receive the highest number of appointments, with 4,113 posts. Other allocations include 154 positions in the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, 143 in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, 77 in the Steel and Mines Department, 70 in the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, 52 in the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, and 14 in the Skill Development Department. The remaining posts will be distributed among other departments.

It may be recalled that on December 30, 2025, the state government had provided jobs to 1,543 candidates across 11 departments. By the end of last year, a total of 39,459 people had already been appointed.

With the latest recruitment drive, the total number of appointments made by the government in the last 22 months will cross 44,000, marking a significant expansion in employment generation efforts.
