Odisha Govt Makes BSNL Services Mandatory in Offices to Revive Telecom PSU

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed all departments to switch to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) services in a bid to strengthen the state-owned telecom operator and restore its past prominence.
Acting on instructions from the Centre, the Electronics and Information Technology Department has issued an order mandating the use of BSNL’s internet, broadband, landline, and leased line services in government institutions wherever technically feasible.
The Cooperation Department has already begun implementation. It has instructed all District Registrars of Cooperative Societies (DRCS) and Assistant Registrars of Cooperative Societies (ARCS) to review existing arrangements and adopt BSNL services without disrupting ongoing operations. Subordinate offices have also been asked to complete the transition and submit compliance reports by September 30.
Officials said the move is part of a wider strategy to boost BSNL’s service footprint across Odisha and ensure greater reliance on public sector telecom services.
