Odisha Govt Issues Notices to Private Hospitals Over Cashless Treatment Violations

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has issued show-cause notices to several private hospitals for failing to provide cashless treatment under state health schemes, Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling informed the Assembly.

The Minister’s reply came in response to a query raised by MLA Sagar Charan Das, who sought details on action taken against private hospitals for not extending cashless treatment benefits to patients.

Mahaling told the House that as of March 2026, the government has received and addressed 56 complaints related to hospital irregularities under the Ayushman Bharat–Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana.

Following a detailed review of these complaints, show-cause notices were issued to the concerned hospitals and healthcare facilities. Of the total cases, 10 hospitals have been suspended, while one hospital has been penalised, the Minister added.

The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with healthcare schemes and safeguarding patients’ rights.
