Odisha Cabinet Expansion in Third Week of April

Amid widespread speculation, reliable sources have confirmed that the Odisha state cabinet expansion will take place during the third week of April. The final decision regarding the expansion has already been taken.

Six posts are currently lying vacant in the Mohan Charan Majhi government, which was formed in June 2024. These vacancies will be filled through the upcoming expansion, making the government more people-friendly and accelerating development initiatives.

According to sources, some ministers are currently handling as many as three departments each, creating an excessive workload. Several departments will be redistributed from them to new inductees. Fresh faces are expected to join the cabinet to inject new energy into governance.

The cabinet reconstitution will prioritise regional representation and experience. The ruling party has formulated a specific strategy to ensure welfare schemes reach the grassroots level and enhance administrative efficiency ahead of the panchayat and municipal elections.

Six MLAs are likely to be inducted into the ministry. Names being prominently discussed include Babu Singh, Sidhant Mohapatra, Saroj Pradhan, and Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi.
