Odisha braces rainfall till August 30

Bhubaneswar: The rainfall in Odisha is continuing with all its might and taking no name to stop cease. In its recent bulletin, the IMD predicted that the rainfall will lash out in several parts of Odisha till August 30.
The well marked low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is active now. This is gradually advancing towards the North western direction. As a result of this heavy rains in Odisha is expected.
The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the state were dampened due to the ongoing low pressure rains. Though people still thronged to puja mandaps for pandal hopping.
The districts of Koraput and Malkangiri were issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Similarly, yellow warnings have been issued to Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts for thunderstorm and lightning.
Due to rains, water level in Subarnarekha river was flowing close to the danger mark. It os receding gradually but the plight of the locals continues. The danger mark of Subarnarekha river is 10.36 metre while the level at Rajghat is 9.84 metre.
The water level has receded but the trouble for the locals has not ended yet. The farmers are facing innumerable troubles due to the clogged waters. For the sixth time, as many as 40 villages of eight Gram Panchayats under Baliapala block have been severely affected.
