Odisha Assembly Opens 2nd Phase of Budget Session

The Odisha Legislative Assembly began the second phase of its budget session today, setting the stage for intense debates on departmental expenditure claims.

Lawmakers prepared to scrutinise allocations as the session moved into a decisive period.

From March 10, the House will engage in detailed discussions on expenditure demands across various departments. Ministers will respond to questions during the proceedings, ensuring accountability and clarity on budgetary priorities. The question hour resumed with normalcy, allowing legislators to raise issues and seek explanations directly from departmental heads.

The Assembly scheduled the passage of the state budget for March 31. This milestone will mark the culmination of weeks of deliberations and financial planning. The session will continue until April 8, giving members ample time to address concerns and finalise fiscal strategies.

The first phase of the budget session faced disruptions, but the second phase opened on a smoother note. Lawmakers emphasised constructive dialogue and focused attention on expenditure management. The debates will highlight Odisha’s financial roadmap and the government’s commitment to balancing development with fiscal discipline.

The second phase of the budget session carries significant weight, as it determines how resources will be allocated across critical sectors. With ministers actively answering questions and legislators pressing for clarity, the Assembly aims to ensure transparency in financial governance.
