NLU Odisha Holds 12th Convocation; 218 Students Awarded Degrees

Cuttack: The National Law University (NLU), Odisha, held its 12th convocation ceremony on Saturday at the university amphitheater in CDA, Cuttack, where 218 students received degrees for the academic year 2024–25.

Among them, 168 students were conferred five-year integrated undergraduate degrees, 42 received postgraduate degrees, and three were awarded PhDs. Fourteen meritorious students were also honored with gold medals for academic excellence.

The ceremony was presided over by the Chancellor of NLU Odisha and Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, Justice Harish Tandon, who urged graduates to embrace hard work, social responsibility, and diligence in their professional journeys.

Former Chief Justice of India and President of the National Judicial Academy, Justice Aniruddha Bose, graced the event as chief guest and delivered the convocation address. Highlighting the expanding scope of the legal profession, he encouraged students to pursue their careers with ethics, clarity, and discipline. Justice Bose also emphasized that lawyers’ responsibilities extend beyond courtrooms, advising young advocates to devote at least 25% of their practice to pro bono cases and to read law-related literature for professional growth.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Bed Kumari, in her welcome address, presented a report on the university’s progress. The ceremony was attended by Registrar Professor Rangeen Pallav Tripathy, judges of the Orissa High Court, the Advocate General, and several dignitaries from the legal fraternity.
